For a sneak preview of my new material, click here for an unmastered track provisionally entitled 'after hours', inspired by the Scorcese movie of the same name.

OK it's been a while since I posted anything here...I have been working on new material. Progress is slow, however, as I've been experimenting with some new software (such
as Plogue Bidule, which is amazing btw) and trying to be a little more ambitious with my ideas at the same time. I'll be uploading samples of these tracks-in-progress soon...
Anyway, the computer will almost certainly be used a lot more for my current project. It's not the current trend in rehashing old synths into VST plugins that necessarily interests me,
but more the software that approaches the creation of music in a different way. Programs like Ableton Live, Buzz, Audiomulch and Bidule are changing the way people write music...for instance, I can create
a patch in Bidule, play it back, hammer away on my Juno which is routed to a recorder module, then integrate parts of that session back into the patch in hundreds of different ways. All with
a single piece of software. So it's all exciting stuff...

Release day is approaching and so far the reviews and feedback received have been good. Comparisons have been to the likes of Royksopp, Boards of Canada and Kraftwerk.

The new record will be released on my own label SRL Records, which is based in Florida, USA.

The Disparities EP will be released around Christmas time, perhaps earlier. A collection of tracks were recorded whilst I was
living in London. The recording studio is located on Cheshire Street: a colourful street just off Brick Lane (home to Bangladeshi restaurants and the finest bagels!), near Shoreditch.
Most of the samples / sound textures were created either from recordings whilst roaming adjacent streets or through progressive resampling of various recording sessions.
Collaborations included Justin Taylor (guitarist) and DeGanta Choudhury (keyboardist).

Hi, this blog/log/diary/scrapbook/whatever comes at a fairly late stage in this Disparities project. I'll be using this space
as a portal for new ideas, projects in the works, general ramblings, etc.
